Netanyahu: 'Medieval Forces of Radical Islam ... Want to Extinguish Freedom'

The medieval forces of radical Islam, whom you just saw storming the American embassies throughout the Middle East

That intolerance is directed first to their fellow Muslims, then to Christians, Jews, Buddhists, Hindus, secular people - anyone who doesn't submit to their unforgiving creed. They want to drag humanity back to an age of unquestioning dogma, unrelenting conflict.

NEW YORK, NY (CNS News.com) - Speaking to the United Nations General Assembly on Thursday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that "medieval forces of radical Islam ... want to extinguish freedom."

"We want to see the three great religions that sprang forth from our region - Judaism, Christianity and Islam - coexist in peace and in mutual respect. Yet, the medieval forces of radical Islam, whom you just saw storming the American embassies throughout the Middle East. Well, they oppose this," he said.

"They seek supremacy over all Muslims. They are bent on world conquest. They want to destroy Israel, Europe, America. They want to extinguish freedom. They want to end the modern world," he added.

Netanyahu described the branches of "militant Islam," which he said includes the rulers of Iran's Revolutionary Guards and al Qaeda.

"Despite their differences," he said, "they're all rooted in the same bitter soil of intolerance."

"That intolerance is directed first to their fellow Muslims, then to Christians, Jews, Buddhists, Hindus, secular people - anyone who doesn't submit to their unforgiving creed. They want to drag humanity back to an age of unquestioning dogma, unrelenting conflict," Netanyahu said.

"They want to drag humanity back to an age of unquestioning dogma, unrelenting conflict. I'm sure of one thing: ultimately, they will fail. Ultimately, light will penetrate the darkness," he added.

The Contradiction of " orthodoxy and praxis" pointed out by Netanyahu is accurate.. Etymologically, the word 'Islam" originates from two Hebrew roots " Is= man ( Isa=woman) and "Shalom"= peace. In this sense, the very word connotes " man of peace". But, the truth is far from reality and is as clear as the day. A good majority of Islam is without " ilm"(Arabic") true wisdom, despite they have knowledge ( kalam). The vast majority in the rural area are still kept illiterated and often misled by the 'mullas'/ Religious teachers. " Eye for an Eye and tooth for a tooth" is the spirit of " Jihad" originally the " spiritual warfare" subverted to the "political" establishment of Islamic empire (Khilaph), an aborted concept.. In my opinion, the US and the West has to be patient in understanding them sympathetically and educate them to come up to the level of true liberty from the recently won 'Arab Spring', It is possible only through education, formal or informal . of course, no nations of the world can deny the role US and the West play whenever humanity is in trouble whether natural or man made which causes economic crisis too in the US which seldom have I seen from the Islamic Bloc which is to be the most " Charity" based and the Communist Bloc with its " socialism". whenever any leader from the Islamic countries spoke in the UN, I found them using the expression " Our people" like the Jews called another Jew " a brother" in Jesus' time,in opposition to the " rest of the people". Neither selling arms nor building up arms are the means to peace. It is the possession of Nuclear weapons by the rest of the world that makes the Muslim world childishly competitive and restless, a menace to the world peace as they could be highjacked by the terrorists. In this context, the fear of Netanyahu is not out of place. I wish Islam to grow as the harbinger of "peace", Christians " Love" and the Jews that of " Law abiding".

Kasoy: You would have a very good plan if it weren't for the fact that Obama has cut all possibilities of extracting our own resources and creating the unemployment that we have today. What would we do for energy which we DO desperately need? Obama has shut down the coal mines & the oil fields and rigs. We have to get oil from somewhere. That's why Obama has got to go. He WANTS us dependent on other countries. That way, hr will teach arrogant America a lesson. According to Obama, America needs to be SUBMISSIVE to Islam. God bless.

michael: Read Rev. 12:13-14. The US will very much be in this war. She will take care of Israel. Why don't you try and think of the US as the "Good Samaritan" instead of the police of the world. The woman in the prophecy is Israel, the "wings" she was given is the US. The woman also represents Mary. The "eagle" has wings, of course, and represents the US. Is not the eagle our symbol?. My friends, get into the Book of Revelaltions. We are witnessing, right now, everything that John wrote about. God bless.

Galations 5:1 states, It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery." Ephesians 2:11 begins, "Therefore, remember that formerly you who are Gentiles by birth and called "uncircumcised" by those who call themselves "the circumcision" (that done in the body by the hands of men)...remember that at that time you were separate from Christ, excluded from citizenship in Israel and foreigners to the covenants of the promise, without hope and without God in the world. But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far away have been brought near through the blood of Christ. For He himself is our peace, who has made the two one and has destroyed the barrier, the dividing wall of hostility, by abolishing in his flesh the law with its commandments and regulations. His purpose was to create in himself one new man out of the two, thus making peace, and in this one body to reconcile both of them to God through the Cross, by which he put to death their hostility. He came and preached peace to you who were far away and peace to those who were near. For through him we both have access to the Father by one Spirit. Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and aliens, but fellow citizens with God's people and members of Gods household, built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the chief cornerstone. In him the whole building is joined together and rises to become a holy temple in the Lord. And in him you too are being built together to become a dwelling in which God lives by His Spirit. "

This would be a Political statement, but Spiritually it is the ancient Egyptian beliefs that not only try to destroy Islam but also Christianity, pitting it one against the other like never before, against these beliefs, typically Pagan in nature is Our Lord's battle, Prophesied.

And if Iran developes a nuclear weapon and uses it against another country while we stood by and allowed it to happen... how Catholic is that? Are we not then complicite?

Tell the Prime Minister Wile E.Coyote wants his bomb back. Really I would think a image of a mushroom cloud would have made the point far better.

This is why resistance to such extremist intolerance should be at a global level (UN and NATO, EU). US cannot possibly take over the task of pressuring all those Islamic and communist regimes to respect freedom and human rights. US will be driven to bankruptcy to continue providing economic and military support to moderates in those countries. A case in point is Syrian crisis. US is helping Syria to kick out a despot (Assad). Once Assad is ousted, the radicals will gain more freedom and power to push their agenda. This is exactly what happened when the US supported the ouster of the Egyptian, Tunisian, and Libyan dictators. Extremists will surely turn against those who helped free them. The US provided military arms and training to Osama bin Laden and the Talibans during the Russian invasion of Afghanistan in the 1980's (1979-1989). Extremists have no friends except those who will bow to their creed.

What to do: Just like what we did during the Cold War era, we stop all diplomatic and economic relations (including oil embargo - without oil demand from the West, those nations will not proper) with these hostile nations so they will not be able to spread their intolerant creed (honor killing, jihad, religious intolerance). With diplomatic ties severed, it will be very hard for the extremists to penetrate our society through legal immigration. And without economic ties with the West, they will not have the resources to spread violence and their influence (like North Korea and Cuba). Eventually, like what happened in eastern Europe, people will realize the lies of their leaders and the false promises of their system, then they will free themselves through revolts.

What we don't need now is another war. Israel has been pushing us for months now to attack Iran or they will. The only proper response...the only true Catholic response...is to stay out of any further conflict in the Middle East. If Israel attacks Iran, then they are on their own!
