LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) - Head of the Archdiocese of Chicago and former president of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, Cardinal Francis George has blasted the Obama administration and misguided allies of the homosexual equivalency movement which have enforced a "public creed" on Americans, compelling all to accept "gay marriage" and other "sexual anomalies."

Cardinal George compared the forcing to the imposition of Sharia law on Christians and Jews.

The issue is the compulsory acceptance of the homosexual agenda and the various deviancies which spring from it. Within a short time of legalizing a false form of alleged marriage-homosexual marriage, at least one judge has issued a ruling that could legitimize polygamy.

Meanwhile, across American pop culture homosexual behavior is treated as the "new normal" as celebrities and other pop icons and even political figures "come out" as homosexual, bi-sexual, trans-sexual, pan-sexual and a whole host of other unnatural self-identifications.

Americans who resist this meta-narrative which is being force fed by pop culture and sanctioned by the Obama Administration face severe punishments. Businesses have been forced to close, while outspoken defenders of marriage and faith have been shouted down and verbally attacked. Some churches non-Catholic have even gone so far as to back down in the face of pressure and sanction homosexual marriages in spite of clear teaching on the matter.

Cardinal George criticized this in a Sept. 7 column in the newspaper of the archdiocese, explaining that the state previously protected all religions, but that now the state is acting as a "rival" and a "fake church."

The problem, as the Cardinal explained, isn't that people demand to be left to live sinful lives as they please, but that they have gone further to demand public acceptance of those sins. A business is now compelled to deal with those who openly and cheerfully parade their sins for all to see. Businesses and individuals, including churches who reject such sinful behavior on face are met with harsh criticism and public backlash.

The state has gone from protecting individual moral choices to promoting the acceptance of those choices by others, under threat. "What was once a request t live and let live has not become a demand for approval," Cardinal George wrote.

We are told that, even in marriage itself, there is no difference between men and women, although nature and our very bodies clearly evidence that men and women are not interchangeable at will in forming a family. those who do not conform to the official religion, we are warned, place their citizenship in danger."

He continued by explaining how severe public enforcement of such deviance has created a "crisis of belief" for many Catholics. He explained this was creating a form of national ideology -a  religion worshiping a "false god."

"Since all public institutions, no matter who owns or operates them, will be agents of the government and conform their activities to the demands of the official religion, the practice of medicine and law will become more difficult for faithful Catholics. It already means in some States that those who run businesses must conform their activities to the official religion or be fined, as Christians and Jews are fined for their religion in countries governed by Sharia law," the Cardinal wrote.

Cardinal George ended his letter on a hopeful note, saying that one day Christ will return to judge all and that the dead and the Church "will be there to meet Him."

Ultimately, this is what matters most: that we are of clear conscience when we meet our judgment. To obtain this, we must hold fast to the true faith, and not the false religion imposed by the secular apparatus about us.
