LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) - A narrator begins to speak, describing Egyptian Christians as the terrorist organization's "favorite prey."
The 20-minute video revealed several images of Christians ranging from Egypt's Coptic Christian Pope to simple businessmen, judges and priests.
The narrator described Christians are no longer "dhimmis," or mostly-protected non-Muslims in Islam.
All Christians are now viewed as "infidels" whose existence only empowers the Western countries against Muslim nations.
A militant carrying an AK-47 looks into the camera and cries, "God gave orders to kill every infidel."
An unnamed U.S. defense official told WTOP the threat is real and ISIS is likely prepared for several attacks around the world.
Iraqi security forces continue to discover ISIS teens with suicide vest (Reuters).
"We think that transnational terrorist attacks, in the near term, will probably remain steady. The group has been able to build a robust and redundant apparatus for conducting transnational terrorist attacks.
"They have a lot of people in place already that are sympathizers around the world....We think they will be able to continue to be able to produce at last a constant level of propaganda, which underpins a lot of the ideology in Europe and elsewhere."
Kristian Bartholin, the deputy head of counterterrorism at the Council of Europe, explained: "Due to the current high alert levels, it is difficult for terrorists to operate in traditional cell structures; hence, we see more 'lone wolf' attacks."
The defense official agreed, stating: "I think what we're going to see, going forward, is (fewer) deployed operatives - (fewer) people going from Syria back to France for example, which we have seen in the past, and more 'enabled and inspired'" plots.
The official added: "The total amount of propaganda ISIS churns out has decreased. But the percentage of propaganda that talks about attacks and external attacks has actually increased. ...ISIS has lost more than a quarter of the territory it controlled in Iraq and Syria in the last year.
"...[The past was just] prologue. I believe the organization believes it can wait us out. And it will, like you saw in 2010, 2011, go underground to a large extent and wait for its next opportunity - at least in Iraq and Syra."
