OKLAHOMA CITY, OK (Catholic Online) - Members of the Oklahoma Militia, a 50,000 strong force of law-abiding gun owners, has declared for Cliven Bundy in his recent standoff against the feds. Although the dispute appears to be over, many Americans remain worried about continued government overreach and heavy-handed tactics.
Cliven Bundy has not paid grazing fees since 1993 and a court order permitted the seizure of cattle that he was grazing on public land. Bundy says the land belonged to his ancestors and they have always grazed their cattle there.
Pray for our Republic.
When the feds came to collect his cattle however, they came with tremendous force, looking more like a paramilitary troop than a federal agency. Agents came equipped with body armor, heavy weaponry, and several helicopters as well as vehicles that could be used in an assault action.
Heavy machinery was brought in and destroyed some of Bundy's improvements. Several of his cattle were also killed without apparent justification.
Militia groups from around the country rushed to Bundy's aid because people are growing weary of government overreach and heavy-handed tactics.
Representatives of the Oklahoma Militia told local news sources that they were afraid of such practices coming to Oklahoma and that they were prepared to defend the private property rights of Americans in that state if needed.
Across the United States, discontent with the Obama administration is growing and it has also spread to a general discontent with the political situation in the country. More and more Americans are taking an interest in radical solutions to government corruption which appears to have become permanently entrenched in Washington. The corruption is becoming so bad that officials don't seem to be making efforts to conceal it anymore.
Meanwhile, law enforcement continues to militarize and use SWAT tactics even against non-violent alleged offenders.
Scott Shaw of the Oklahoma Militia said, "It's up to the feds. The ball's in their court! You can do this legally or if you want to try to do a land grab violently, you can do that. We're going to resist you!"
