UNBELIEVABLE: Kid's athletic skill makes for YouTube winner

Breathtaking somersaults draw viewers to 'Insane Dodgeball Kill'

Dodge ball is an elementary and junior high school favorite, where the object of the game - as the name implies, is to dodge rubber ball. Those who have the knack for it go on to play it the rest of their lives, in a simpler version of the international favorite of soccer. One boy has excited YouTube interest with his video entitled, "Insane Dodge ball Kill," which includes breathtaking somersaults.

Many users on YouTube seem impressed by the young man's skills. 'I almost couldn't believe what I was seeing. Literally amazed,' wrote one user. Another added, 'This is why you don't let ninjas play dodgeball.'

LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) - The match being played in the video looks simple enough. Young people run around the gym and throw the ball at their targets, while others try to dodge it to avoid being hit or catch the ball to eliminate players from the other team.

A young man appears and steps up to the plate with an acrobatic move that only a true dodge ball master could pull off. The remarkable dodge-and-shot is accomplished by a move known as a "gainer." In the "gainer," the player moves forward while simultaneously doing a backward somersault. The player on the receiving end of the ball tries to catch it but fails.

The video is racking up hits right and left on YouTube after making it to the front page of social news site Reddit. Many users on YouTube seem impressed by the young man's skills. "I almost couldn't believe what I was seeing. Literally amazed," wrote one user. Another added, "This is why you don't let ninjas play dodgeball."

Not sure if the guy who pulled off the move was a ninja in a former life, but he could certainly teach us all a thing or two about distracting the opponent.

According to the online encyclopedia, Dodgeball is any of a variety of games in which players try to hit other players on the opposing team with their own balls while avoiding being hit themselves. This article is about a well-known form of team sport with modified rules that is often played in physical education classes and has been featured in a movie, "Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story."

In the United States, the game is typically played among children 6-12 in elementary school. However, internationally, the sport has also emerged as a popular middle school, high school and college sport. It is also popular in informal settings and is often played on a playground, in a gym, or in organized recreational leagues.

There are many variations of the game, but generally the main objective of each team is to eliminate all members of the opposing team by hitting them with thrown balls, catching a ball thrown by a member of the opposing team, or forcing them to move outside the court boundaries when a ball is thrown at them.
